DIY Weekend Home Projects

Do-It-Yourself Home Projects You Can Do This Weekend

When most people think about adding value to their home most will think about adding an extension, converting the loft to a bedroom or knocking down walls to create an open plan living area. But improving your home doesn’t always have to be that costly or time-consuming!

There are lots of DIY projects that you can do this weekend to make your home a nicer place to live, and increase the value at the same time!

DIY Kitchen Projects

REJUVENATE YOUR KITCHEN

Adding a lick of paint to your kitchen is one of the quickest, and cheapest, ways to freshen up the entire home. Over the years interior design trends evolve and we need to change the colour of our rooms to keep up with the times!

Bring your kitchen up to date with a fresh coat of white paint. White has been an extremely popular colour for kitchens for the past few years. It brightens up spaces and gives the room a clean and crisp feel.

If you’re looking for a smaller DIY project for this weekend, then why not give your kitchen cabinets are new lease of life with a fresh coat of paint. This is a very quick way to change the look of an entire room.

And the best part is that you don’t need any power tools to do it! Just unscrew the cabinet doors and give them a quick sanding down. A few coats of paint later and you’ll have a trendsetting kitchen.

UPDATE YOUR BATHROOM

Our bathrooms are very important places in our homes. Even though they may be one of the smallest rooms, they are vital to the smooth running of daily family life.

Just like kitchens, bathroom trends tend to come and go. Thankfully the days of shag carpet and colourful tiles from the 60s are long gone, but some remains can be seen in some homes. Set aside time this weekend to retile your bathroom and bring the room up to date.

This is one of the more difficult DIY jobs about the home, but it can save you a lot of money!

If tiling is beyond your current skill set, there are still some things that you can do to make your bathroom more enjoyable.

Showerheads are an often overlooked part of the bathroom, even though we use them all the time! A great showerhead can improve a shower with low water pressure and a rainfall showerhead can turn your bathroom into a mini-spa!

BRIGHTEN UP THE EXTERIOR OF YOUR HOME

The first thing we encounter when returning home is the exterior of the property. First impressions can be lasting, so it’s a good idea to make sure that the outside of your home is in great condition for any visitors that you may have. There are lots of small jobs that we can do to make the exterior as beautiful as possible. Simple things like cleaning the gutters, cleaning windows and painting the front door can make a big impact.

These are small DIY projects that most of us can do on the weekend.

Many homeowners love to tend to their gardens. It can be a creative outlet for some as well as making your home more welcoming and valuable too. With a little bit of work, you can reap massive benefits. Consider planting seasonal bulbs and plants in your flower beds for a year-round burst of colour. Or if you’re an experienced DIYer you can add a small paving area to create a patio to relax on.
