“Hey there, Bob Deeks with RDC Fine Homes. I am down in Pinecrest Estates. This is a gated community about 10 minutes south of Whistler, and we are just getting ready today, getting ready and set up to start a new renovation down here. We’re going to completely redo the inside of this 1980s cabin. The boys are starting today. We’re targeting to be finished just before the end of this year. So let’s go on inside. We’ll have a little bit of a boo at the existing condition and we’ll do some regular updates on this exciting project as we go forward over the next six months. So stay tuned!”

“This floor, the entry floor here on the bottom of the house gets a complete refresh. The room orientation is going to get changed. They always had this entry here that was sort of an orphan entry to nowhere, so this area here is going to get repurposed as a bedroom. So just a much better use of this floor plan area, and of course a brand new bathroom here, same place, but just all new finishes and fixtures.”
Bob Deeks: (01:15)
“Then we are going to redo the entire stairwell and add in open riser stairs to bring a little more light from all the windows upstairs down into the lower floor here. The fireplace is going, and of course, this big wide open space is going to get divided into two spaces. So we’ll get two bedrooms on this side. And then on this side over here, a games room and office area.”

“This exciting renovation here in Pinecrest Estates just south of Whistler is going to involve a complete interior redo, a new kitchen, a new master bedroom, bathroom. Really disappointed to get rid of this lovely brown tub with the carpet surround, but it’s got to go. (Joking!) Of course, all new bathroom fittings and fixtures. And then outside, we’re going to do an extension to the deck that you can see out the windows here. It will wrap all the way around the side of the house here with a view into the woods. So stay tuned, and of course, if you want to follow along, subscribe to the YouTube channel or follow us on Facebook and Instagram.”
RDC Fine Homes’ president Bob Deeks provides the second update featuring our new home renovation project in the Pinecrest neighbourhood including a new deck addition and a replacement of a fireplace inside.
Bob Deeks (00:00):
“Hey there, Bob Deeks with RDC Fine Homes. Welcome to our latest update on our renovation down here in beautiful Pinecrest Estates near Whistler. As you can see, we’ve got Pemberton Concrete in the background. We are pouring our foundation and footings for our deck and shed. We’re going to go on inside and see progress to date. Drywall is underway and we are now entering into the finishing phase of this fantastic project, updating this 1980s home up to a modern Whistler standard. So let’s go around and see how the guys are doing with their concrete pour and take a quick tour inside to see progress to date.”
Bob Deeks (00:42):
“All right, quick shot. Here are the boys busy pouring concrete. The forms you see will be the foundation for a new shed for all the toys. And then in the background, we can see all the footings ready to go for this large wraparound deck that’ll take advantage of the western views and sun exposure, and really improve the outdoor living for this fantastic renovation.”
Bob Deeks (01:09):
“Let’s go on inside and see what’s been done to date. If you’ve watched some of the other videos on this project, you’ll notice that this space has been significantly opened up. We’ve got some temporary stairs in place here. We will be installing some open riser timber stairs here to bring in a lot more light, both downstairs and upstairs. As you can see, drywall is underway. If you remember, we had a large masonry fireplace in the middle, the boys worked very hard to remove that old, drafty, inefficient masonry fireplace. You can see the old pad down there. And of course, down here, this will just remain as one big open room. And then as we go upstairs, you’ll see the new framing for an airtight efficient fireplace.”
Bob Deeks (01:58):
“Again, you can see how the space has been really opened up, great layout designed by Carena Designs, new fireplace ready to go for our airtight wood stove. this new design takes up significantly less space, just making the living room seem that much bigger. Of course, we’ve got our new Euroline doors in here to access the new decks. There are two doors here. Of course, we used to have just a small deck out front, and with the redesign, we’ve added another set of doors right here, which will go out to that wraparound deck that you can see the guys pouring concrete for.”
Bob Deeks (02:42):
“So stay tuned. Another update coming in three or four weeks as we move into the finishing phase. We’ve got tile and flooring starting as soon as the drywall and paint is finished. And looking to be completed towards the beginning of the new year in January. Of course, right now, it is just the end of August. So on schedule and on track to finish this up for the family for the winter ski season. If you like what you see, please follow us along on Facebook or Twitter or subscribe to the YouTube channel. Thanks very much.”
